FAQs
WHAT AGES IS IT FOR?
It's ideal for pre-mobile babies so that you can fully get involved with the music but older babies are welcome if you think they'll enjoy the environment. There is a large central mat to play on with toys and you'll get an extra arm workout if you’re carrying them through a song without a sling!
HOW MANY WEEKS POSTPARTUM IS IT OK TO ATTEND?
I would say after 6 weeks then it is up to you to gauge a comfortable level of movement for yourself - you're very welcome to stay seated, there will be chairs out, and just do a little at a time. I'm big on getting you to listen to your body as you move.
WHAT WILL MY BABY DO WHILE I’M DANCING?
Well, they may stare at your face and admire your lip-syncing for a start! You can dance with them in a carrier or you may prefer to lay them on the mat and you can put on a little dance show for them. They can play with the sensory toys provided. They may sleep, they may cry and it is all cool
IS IT NON-STOP DANCING?
No, there are little pauses between songs for me to introduce what we'll do next. There are just 2 little sets of 2/3 songs and a rest in between. Also you can stop to sit down or rest in the chill out area any time you like.
WHAT MUSIC DO YOU PLAY?
It will be a mixture of current music and hits from previous decades. There'll be some energisers and some more gentle. I love 70s disco and 80s pop for the joyful vibe but anything that gets us singing along is good in my book. I'll be taking suggestions for future sessions each week too.
IS THERE PARKING FOR THE VENUE?
There isn't a dedicated car park as it is right in the centre of St Ives. There is pay and display parking outside although it does tend to fill up quickly. The nearest car park - the Cattle Market car park - is a short, walk away (under 5minutes). Head for the short stay end.
ARE THERE STAIRS TO DEAL WITH?
Our main venue, the hall, is wheelie accessible. So no steps from the street into the room. However on the third Friday of each month we will be dancing in the beautiful Centrum which is upstairs. There is a lift to go up the one floor or you can park your pushchair by the stairs and walk up.
WHAT ARE THE BABY CHANGING FACILITIES LIKE?
There is a spacious disabled toilet with change table in opposite the door to the hall.
